I curated a program of films against despair at the EYE Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. The two-day cinema program and expanded online screening selection spanned short nonfiction works, audio-visual art pieces, found home videos and fragments from video games, all exploring the feeling that there is something missing in the world right now. This program was a way to describe this feeling through cinema and to explore the different ways of combating despair and disappointment through artistic practice.

A multi-day program functioning as a ‘situation room’ against despair. By combining short non-fiction works with an hour-long live lecture-performance, original illustrations, and custom tactile objects, the exhibition space was reconfigured into a site of communal repair, demanding vulnerability from both the institution and the audience.

The program included the lecture-performance Raised in the Institution of Dreaming, developed with Lebanese filmmaker Taymour Boulos, which premiered at EYE as the top-selling event of the week, and an accompanying zine with original illustrations by the curator.
